Professor Murray Named Lisa and Bernard Selz Professor of Medieval Art History
The trustees of Columbia University have named Professor Stephen Murray the first Lisa and Bernard Selz Professor of Medieval Art History. The professorship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Selz, members of the Department's Advisory Council and the donors also of the Lisa and Bernard Selz Professorship in Pre-Columbian Art History held by Professor Esther Pasztory.

New Initiatives in Greek Art:

Internship Program with the National Museum in Athens
Thanks to Professor Mylonopoulos' efforts, the Department of  Art History and Archaeology has established an internship program for undergraduate and graduate students with the National Museum in Athens. Details about the application process, requirements, and funding will be announced in the early fall.

In addition, this fall Professor Mylonopoulos will be co-teaching a graduate seminar entitled Greek Emotions in Image and Text with Professor Angelos Chaniotis (http://www.ias.edu/news/press-releases/1213107639), a historian currently at All Souls College in Oxford who will be joining the faculty of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton on July 1,2010. Professor Chaniotis is the director of an international project on emotions in ancient Greek culture, which is generously funded by the European Research Council.
